Thrillseeker, June 2019 – Review
With France having it’s hottest weather in a long time we were ready a scorching week in the French Alps as we took the long way to, and back from, Monaco, on our Thrillseeker European Road Trip.
22 cars and 41 people – all very different but all there for one thing – an adventure. The cars were mainly from BMW (M140i, M2 Competition, M4 Competition) and Porsche (Boxster, Cayman and 911), along with the odd curveball (Toyota GT86, Lotus Elise S and Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio) and a clan of obligatory Mclarens (570s, 720s and 600LT) that have been a prominent brand on our road trips for several years now.
This colourful group of cars, along with their owners and co-drivers, brought something different to the trip everyday. Splitting into smaller groups each day we weaved our way though the French Alps, tackling may mountain roads including the Col de la Bonette, before arriving at Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo, our accomodation in Monaco for the evening.
From Monaco we headed north into the mountains once more, before arriving in the Black Forest of Germany for our final night.
There was sunshine, lots of sunshine, a smattering of rain, and a good old thunderstorm overnight in the mountains – just to liven things up a little.
Fuel was burnt, food eaten, drinks consumed, frowns and smiles were expressed, new friends were made and good times were had.
